There are several reasons you may find yourself riding a bike. It could either be that you are saving on fuel, It could be that you are trying to beat the traffic; it could be for fun or a professional undertaking. Whatever the reason, there are basic things you should know about the bike gear that you should take with you. The gear may vary depending on the specific venture but the underlying Idea is the same. Here is a guide to what biker gear will be of most help to you.

Clothing biker gear

For starters, there is need to know what kind of clothing is appropriate for you. I put clothing first in the list because the choice of clothing is what will offer you comfort and ensure that you enjoy the ride. The choice of clothing depends mostly on the weather but do not forget that the weather may be unpredictable at times. It is good to plan on any eventuality. Basically, a fair weather allows for comfort. The appropriate gear will be some cycling shorts and a light top. Having padded shorts makes the riding experience even more comfortable. Be sure to put on top with moisture-wicking capabilities if there is high humidity. This will help you stay cool and comfortable. If it is cold, a warm jacket will be ideal and a sports trouser which should be a bit figure hugging. Do not forget to plan for a rainy day with a waterproof jacket and pants as well as shoe covers. Neoprene will be ideal for the shoe cover.

Safety biker gear

Safety should never be compromised when biking. Remember that accidents can happen no matter how proficient one may be. Protecting the head is paramount and the best way is to have a helmet. In case of a hard fall, your head will be protected from serious bruises and injuries. Some helmets come with a helmet liner which provides comfort and warmth in cold weather as well as absorbing sweat in hot weather.

For the hands, use biker gloves which will protect your hands from the fatigue that is caused by the hard vibrations when using a rough road. There are different types of gloves available depending on the weather, including water proof ones for a rainy day. Your shoes need to be fitting and well-padded to protect your feet from corns and fatigue. Your eyes also need protection from the various light conditions. Sunglasses are therefore a must. You can vary lenses depending on the light. They also protect your eyes from particles that may disrupt your ride.

Tire repair Gear

This is another set of biker gear that should never be left behind. Every biker should have with him tools such as a spare tube, a patch kit and tire levers. What this essentially means is that they should also equip themselves with repairing skills should anything go wrong.

Under-seat bag

An under-seat bag as a biker gear can be used to carry any clothing gear that will be required. Your wallet and phone go here too. It is also an ideal place to pack the tire repair gear and some snacks for a great ride.

With these few items, you are good to go and have a ride of your life.
