Draw Out Your Drawing Talents With These 5 Jobs

February 1, 2017

Art is often ridiculed as a subject that won’t get you a job. But being able to draw well is in fact a valuable skill that can lead to a very well-paid profession. Here are a few examples of jobs that require your drawing talents.

Graphic design

Graphic design is essential to almost every product around us. On top of technical drawing, many products will require a sketch drawing which is freehand and requires more artistic ability. Branding such as packaging, logo-building and ad design also relies heavily on the more arty side of drawing, with designers having to draw cartoon characters or inventing iconographies. Familiarising yourself with certain graphics design programmes such as Adobe Illustrator can be useful (there are many Illustrator training courses available). Graphic design tablets and styluses have made digital drawing a lot easier – you can practically draw as if you were using paper and pen, with the added bonus that you can digitally erase.

Cartoons

Finding full-time work as a cartoonist is difficult but if you look hard enough you’ll find it. You may not land a job illustrating a comic strip or providing the animation for a Disney movie, but you may be able to provide political cartoons to newspapers or provide humorous cartoons for a kids magazine. If you’re bold enough, you can even take to the streets and offer caricatures. Many cartoonists will work on a freelance basis. Build up a portfolio and you’ll eventually be able to attract your own clients.

Illustrating

Publishing companies will often work with illustrators, providing writers with images for their books. Getting one’s foot in the door can be difficult – many will create blogs of their artwork and then approach publishing companies and authors individually. Children’s books are a particularly good way in as these are more picture-heavy. Illustrators may also be required for instruction manuals – whilst this can sometimes be more technical, pictures of people and hands may be needed that require a more skilled artist.

Album artwork

Whilst some musicians are happy to use a photo in their press pack, others prefer to have hand-drawn artwork to go with their albums and singles. This can be a lucrative market, although may require a lot of networking with local musicians. Eventually you can build up a portfolio which you can use to attract clients. Band, PR companies and music agents may recommend you based on your previous work.

Courtroom sketching

Before photography, courtroom sketching was commonplace. It has recently become more widespread, with many courts banning photographers. Courtroom sketches involve drawing a picture of courtroom proceedings and require a certain level of drawing talent. You don’t need to be legally trained, although an art degree may be favourable in many cases, as well as the ability to work in a short time frame.

What is the greatest album cover ever created?

January 11, 2017
By

Have you even wondered on what are the best album cover created in the entire music industry as for today? well actually, there are a bunch out there and there’s still keep on producing album hence there’s a new cover album to be included in the list. But as for today and as you’re an avid fan of the oldies songs you might got your list already in mind that you think is the greatest album cover ever created.

But if not, you can check my list below see it yourself on how awesome these albums are and their artists that am sure your parents will appreciate much..

While the music on an album is of upmost importance, the sleeve that holds the record gives artists a space for artistic expression. This has always been the case; from the first microgroove long-playing phonograph that was released in 1948, through the vinyl era and the many CDs that you see in music stores today.

However, which is the greatest album cover that has ever been created? Managed print specialist United Carlton has attempted to find out by drawing up a shortlist of six standout examples.

Take a look at each pick and then visit the firm’s Twitter page to give your thoughts on the best of the bunch, or offer your favourite that didn’t make the list:

The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

(Cover can be seen here: http://www.thebeatles.com/album/sgt-peppers-lonely-hearts-club-band)

What better way to kick off our list than with the cover of a Grammy-winning album that was created by art champion and director Robert Fraser? The sleeve was a combination of work by designers Jann Haworth and Peter Blake and saw more than 70 artists, writers, thinkers and figures who inspired The Beatles featured. As a subtle nod to the end of the Hard Day’s Night-fueled Beatlemania era, the cover also saw the iconic British band as they were in 1967 standing alongside their younger selves.

The Beatles – Abbey Road

(Cover can be seen here: http://www.thebeatles.com/album/abbey-road)

The Beatles are the only band to make our list twice, though it shouldn’t be much of a surprise when you consider that the two album covers featured are those for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road. For the latter, the famous foursome chose to part ways with simulations and instead feature themselves walking across a zebra crossing in a typical British street. It is a scene that has been replicated countless times ever since.

Pink Floyd – Dark Side Of The Moon

(Cover can be seen here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/gncz/)

Legendary designers Hipgnosis were the brains behind the cover for Pink Floyd’s album Dark Side Of The Moon, with a single beam of light shining through a prism and forming a rainbow on the other side creating a simple yet bold look. This image was used to convey the band’s stage lighting as well as the lyrics some of the album’s songs. It also speaks volume that despite the sleeve having no words, most people instantly knows its name and the band behind it.

Nirvana – Nevermind

(Cover can be seen here: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/nevermind-anniversary-nirvana-baby-kurt-cobain-dave-grohl-a7328811.html)

The cover for Nirvana’s album Nevermind was apparently conceptualised after Kurt Cobain watched a programme about water births. After hiring photographer Kirk Weddle to bring the sleeve into reality, the result was an innocent baby swimming underwater towards a dollar bill that was hanging from a fishhook. The rest was history.

Meat Loaf – Bat Out Of Hell

(Cover can be seen here: https://www.discogs.com/Meat-Loaf-Bat-Out-Of-Hell/release/2831488)

The songs featured on Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell were crazy in a good way, so it was fitting that the sleeve of the record was just as brilliantly wild. Conceptualised by Jim Steinman but actually created by comic book artist Richard Corben, the cover saw a motorcycle powering out of a graveyard while a giant bat loomed menacingly over the tombstones in the background.

Queen – Queen II

(Cover can be seen here: http://www.queenonline.com/en/the-band/discography/queen-ii/)

Music fans are likely to recognise the sleeve of Queen’s album Queen II, as it also features in the music video for the band’s hit single Bohemian Rhapsody. The cover is a simple one, with the four members of Queen standing in a diamond formation upon a black background. Rock, who had enjoyed work with the likes of David Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop, has since being quoted as saying: “It made them look like much bigger a deal then they were at the time, but it was a true reflection of their music.”

Defining Men’s Fashion in 2016

August 9, 2016
By

Women’s fashion is often talked about more often in the media than men’s fashion. It’s not that the two aren’t on par, but that many men just aren’t as interested in fashion as their female counterparts. However, for those of us that are fashion forward and always like to look the part, we should be letting this year’s hottest celebrities lead us.

There’s a reason behind the fact that today, almost all celebrities, make an effort with how they dress. And that’s because cameras are everywhere. Simply stepping out of their front door can turn into a photo shoot. This is why most celebrities make every effort to look just as sharp on the street as they do on the red carpet.

With that in mind, let’s talk about the celebrities that have, and continue to, define men’s fashion in 2016.

Kanye West

For guys like Kanye, dressing in style means dressing to be comfortable. This doesn’t mean wearing sweats day in, day out. It means finding clothing that’s well-designed and stylish but is also comfortable. Dressing in a way that’s comfortable – aka no collared shirts, is a power move. It says I can get in anywhere, no matter what I wear, because of who I am. Kanye dresses in this way and looks amazing, and believe it or not, so could you. If you’ve got the swagger to go with the look, dressing for comfort could be the way forward. To find out more about this style icon, head over to Heightline and have a browse.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is known for always looking hot to trot. He tends to favour more formal looks than casual ones. However, on the odd occasion, can be seen dressed in skinnies and a casual tee. The key to Ryan’s style success is the subtle detail. He doesn’t simply wear an outfit; he always finds a way to be different. He picks clothing with subtle detail, such as a fine, almost invisible print, for example. His look is a nod to being unique and putting your own twist on every look. Do you like to be different? Then, Ryan Reynolds would make the perfect style icon.

Harry Styles

He’s the king of quirky – his outfits are always unique. If you can pull off the rocker vibe then dressing like heartthrob, Harry Styles could be the way to go. He’s a real lover of the casual look – his favorite go-to outfit is a printed shirt and black skinny jeans. He rocks the casual look – his go-to hairstyle is a messy, bedhead look. If you like the relaxed look, maybe Harry Styles could be your ideal style icon.

These are just three of the celebrities that have defined men’s fashion in 2016; there are also many others. Beckham, for instance, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy – the list could go on, there are so many male fashion icons to choose from. So whatever look you want to create, there’s sure to be someone who you can take inspiration from.

The first thing to do is to figure out what went wrong. Was someone unfaithful? Was it because of money? sex? lack of communication? or growing incompatibility? Couples should figure this out first so that they can move forward. After that, they have to figure out if what went wrong can be fixed. It is only natural to try to save their marriage but what if it is no longer worth saving or they have realized that their partners will no longer change and everything is a lost cause. Always be realistic. Couples can seek the help of a marriage counselor who will have an unbiased insight into the framework of their marriage. The next time you find yourself flipping through the channels or looking over streaming apps to find something to watch, consider turning to reality shows instead of scripted television shows. Reality shows now run the gamut from cooking shows that feature celeb chefs like Gordon Ramsey to dancing shows that let you see some of your favorite stars dance across the screen. No matter where you live, whether you have a Netflix account or if you still rely on cable, there are still a few top reality shows that you should watch, including current and previous seasons.

Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing is a reality competition show that pits celebrities from different areas against each other. They partner with a professional dancer, learn at least one new dance every week and compete live in front of an audience and panel of judges. The show is so popular that it inspired Dancing With the Stars in America and similar shows in countries around the week. While some think Craig Revel Horwood is the odds on favorite to win the current season, his competition stepped up their game in recent weeks, which leaves fans wondering who will come out on top.

Top Chef

Fans of cooking shows often pick Top Chef as one of their favorite reality shows. Top Chef picks professional chefs to compete in multiple challenges every week. They might have 20 minutes to create a recipe using an ingredient on the spot or more than 24 hours to work in teams and create dishes for an upcoming party. A panel of professional chefs and food experts pick their three favorite and least favorite dishes each episode and eliminate at least one chef. The show even had a spin off devoted to dessert chefs.

Kitchen Nightmares

Gordon Ramsey owns several restaurants in the United States and Britain and appears on a handful of TV shows every year. One show that fans pick as their favorite is Kitchen Nightmares. Originally broadcast in the UK, there is now an American version of the show too. Ramsey goes to failing restaurants, meets with the chefs, talks to customers and offers helpful suggestions on how to turn those restaurants around.

Reality shows let you escape for an hour and enjoy watching drama unfold in front of you. Some of the top reality shows currently on the air include Top Chef, Strictly Come Dancing and Kitchen Nightmares.
